The History of Auger

The very first Auger Symposium took place in 1975 in Jülich, Germany. Since then it has regularly featured as one of the satellite meetings held in conjunction with the International Congress of Radiation Research (ICRR, which takes place every four years). In keeping with this custom, the meeting in Oxford will immediately precede ICRR 2019 (Manchester, UK; August 25-29th 2019), allowing participants to easily attend both meetings if they wish.

Previous meetings have taken place in:

  • Jülich, Germany
  • Harwell, UK
  • Amherst, USA
  • University of Lund, Sweden
  • Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Australia
  • Harvard University, USA
  • Jülich, Germany
  • Kyoto, Japan
In the past, the Auger Symposium has attracted expert participants, giving all an opportunity to engage in interactive discussions. This collegial atmosphere greatly stimulates collaboration between established and up-and-coming researchers in the field, and the 9th Symposium in Oxford promises to be another lively meeting in this tradition.
